  • About this Programme

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! The Centre for Learning and Teaching would like to offer you a series of training workshops to start off the New Year as our season’s greetings. Two new titles will be offered in the topic area of “Enhancing Teaching Skills” and numerous well-liked re-runs in the topic areas of “Enabling e-Learning”, “Assessment” and “Professional Development” will be available in January 2014.

The two new titles in “Enhancing Teaching Skills” aim to enhance skills in classroom teaching and improve students’ reading abilities. “Effective Collection of Student Responses in Classroom to Fine Tune Teaching” provides an opportunity in exploring how the use of traditional and electronic means to collect students’ responses may help in designing more effective lessons. If you are looking for ideas of getting your students to read their course readings, “Helping Students Become Better Readers” could be the workshop for you. For those who would like to deliver presentations that are clear, focused and persuasive, the re-run of “Enhancing Your Presentation Skills” shall not be missed.

Interested colleagues may also kick start their New Year with “Kickstart with Moodle” offered in the topic area of “Enabling e-Learning”. This workshop aims to provide an overview of the Moodle interface for freshmen in using Moodle to deliver learning and teaching contents and activities. For the experienced users, “Gearing Up Your Moodle Skills” will introduce new Moodle tools for creating interactive activities. Apart from learning the basics, “Assessing Students with Assignment & Quiz” is a workshop for teaching staff who are interested in developing online assessment activities for students.

There is one workshop in the topic area of “Assessment” and it is worth racing for a spot. The re-run of “Designing MCQs and SAQs to Assess Abilities of Various Levels” equips participants with techniques for constructing effective test items for various competence levels.

Wanting to build a better rapport with your students? Come take a look at the workshop in the topic area of “Professional Development”. The workshop “Effective Communication with the Post 90s” aims to help teachers build a good rapport and strengthen the relationship with the young ones.

Feel free to check out the details of this season’s workshops in the Workshop Schedule. For enrolment, please follow the Enrolment Procedure and enrol in one or more workshops.
