Moving Toward Education 3.0


To explore state-of-the-art development of mobile learning in the higher education with hands-on experience for interactive presentations, The Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) has invited Jim Lengel, Consultant of the Apple Inc., to deliver the workshops on “Moving Toward Education 3.0”.  In the identical one-day workshops, the following will be covered:

  • Mobile Learning Simulation
    • hands-on experience using a tablet for learning
  • Mobile Learning in Higher Education
    • a summary of the state-of-the-art, and a visioning of the possibilities
  • Rethinking the Lecture
    • hands-on work preparing engaging multimedia presentations, incorporating visual communication techniques and active learning strategies
  • Mobile Learning Sequence
    • design a series of tablet with collaborative assignments

*About the Speaker

Jim Lengel is on the faculty at Hunter College of the City University of New York, where his work concentrates on new forms of education made possible by digital technologies. He earned his degrees at Yale and Harvard, and has authored eight books on education, communication, and technology, including Education 3.0, which is about to be released. His weekly column and podcast on teaching with technology appears on Jim has taught at the elementary, secondary and university levels, and served a term as Deputy Commissioner of Education for the state of Vermont. He has held professorships at Boston University, the University of Nantes in Frances, and South China University of Technology in Guangzhou. Many organisations have called on him to assist in their work, including Cisco, Apple, Exxon, Pfizer, Cablevision, and the Gates Foundation, as well as hundreds of schools and colleges around the world.
