Work professionalism (e.g. accountability, work ethics and work attitudes) has received significant attention in recent years. This lecture introduces the importance of professionalism in contemporary workplaces. Using the distinctive features of the British Civil Service, and the innovations it has undergone in recent years as example, this lecture addresses current affairs, bureaucracy, organisational theory and practice and shed insights for teachers to nurture and equip their students with the awareness of professionalism at work.
