About the Seminar:
This seminar aims to provide general understanding to participants on the social situation of ethnic minorities (EM), especially South and South East Asians in Hong Kong. Participants will know more about the general profile of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, such as customs, languages and religions; as well as the challenges and the obstacles faced by EM in social life, education and employment. Participants will also review and reflect on their communication skills with students of diverse cultural and ethnical backgrounds. There will be sharing by an ethnic minority person to present the needs of ethnic minority. At last, tips on building relationships with EM, good practices of using interpretation services and other EM friendly measures will be introduced.
