Mr Kwok Kai Chun (Reg. Social worker, MSW)

Mr Kwok Kai Chu is the Project Officer of Positive Education Training and Research Unit, Department of Applied Social Sciences of the City University of Hong Kong. He has been delivering Positive Education trainings and supports to non-governmental organizations and local schools since 2013.

About the workshop:

This workshop aims to introduce the concept of PERMA Model* and explore ideas of building positive classrooms. PERMA model was developed by Martin Seligman in 2002, which identifies five core elements* of psychological wellbeing and happiness. It can be applied to help teachers build a positive classroom and create activities to help students ‘learn better, feel better and do better”.

*PERMA Model:

P – Positive Emotion, E – Engagement, R – Positive Relation, M – Meaning, A – Accomplishment

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • identify the key elements of the PERMA model; and
  • discuss feasible ways to develop a positive learning culture in the classroom for promoting effective learning.
